What will I learn?

This liberal arts degree provides the opportunity for the student to gain a broad exposure to the discipline. In addition to receiving a foundation through the core courses, the curriculum enables students to tailor their studies with electives from inside or outside of the college.Students interested in the BA program in Design should apply as early in their academic career as possible, but no later than 60 units.The Department of Design prepares students for professional practice and advanced work in design with emphasis on innovative, human-centered, and collaborative approaches to spaces, experiences and products. The study of design encourages creative problem solving and provides the skills necessary to express creative ideas with clarity. A competitive portfolio review is held each year to identify students whose work has reached a level of competence necessary to advance to junior- and senior-level courses in Interior Design and Industrial Design. After passing portfolio requirements, selected students are officially admitted to the B.F.A. and B.S. programs. The B.A. is a highly customizable program that is open to all students and does not require a portfolio for admission to the major. The graduate Human Experience Design Interactions program is an interdisciplinary program with competitive admissions criteria. Entry requirements

For international students

Have earned a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA or "B'" grade according to the CSULB GPA scale. Have completed at least 1 year of high school mathematics. Applicants to STEM majors must have at least 3 years of high school mathematics. High School Transcripts.
