What will I learn?

The major in Italian Studies is designed for students who have a strong interest in Italian culture. The courses in the major give students a wide knowledge of Italian literary and cultural phenomena. Students combine language, culture, and practical skills courses ranging from introductory culture courses and period and genre offerings to seminars treating individual major authors. Italian Studies majors pursue an interdisciplinary curriculum. They are required to take at least two courses in areas such as fine arts, politics, and history that will prepare them for successful careers in politics, law, international business, medicine, education, or the arts.

Entry requirements

For international students

International students applying to Catholic University must have successfully completed a university preparatory course of study at a secondary school (a minimum of 12 years of primary and secondary school training comprising the equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma).

Acceptable Test Scores

TOEFL - 80 Internet (should have at least 20 out of 30 in each category); 150 Paper; 213 Computer.

IELTS - 6.5 (individual test module scores are also reviewed in addition to the overall score to ensure proficiency)

Application deadline for Fall semester (Sept. to Dec.): Nov. 1 - Early Action and Early Decision I application deadline; Feb. 1 - Regular Decision and Early Decision II application deadline.
