What will I learn?

Art history focuses on the visual arts and their role in society and culture. Art history offers both a comprehensive insight into human cultural development as well as a uniquely challenging area of study that integrates rigorous analysis with creativity and interpretive thought. Focusing on the visual arts, art history offers you comprehensive insight into society and human cultural development. Our highly-active faculty exhibit nationally and internationally, and produce scholarly work that is consistently cited for excellence. The Gardiner Gallery of Art and the Oklahoma State Museum of Art offer you opportunities to get hands-on experience working as interns, docents and curators.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School GPA 3.0+ (based on a 4.0 scale) and English-language proficiency exam scores (one of the following): iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 61+; IELTS Academic Score 5.5+; PTE Academic Score 46+; iTEP Academic Score 3.5+, Duolingo English Test Score 95+.

Note: OSU will only accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) results from students beginning Fall 2024.

Application deadline: For applicants currently living in the U.S. - Fall: July 1, Spring: December 1 and Summer: May 1; For applicants not living in the U.S. - Fall: June 1, Spring: November 1 and Summer: March 1.
