What will I learn?

If you enjoy working with children (birth through five years), their families, or their teachers, Early Childhood Education Non-Certification program is for you! You will learn how to work with children and adults in classroom and non-classroom settings.

WHAT YOU CAN TEACH

You can:

Care for and teach infants and toddlers in community childcare programs

Teach preschool- and kindergarten-age children in private schools

Teach at Head Start (ages 3-5) or Early Head Start (prior to 3 years) programs

Supervise and manage a childcare program as the director

Educate and train adults (parents and/or teachers) as an educational program consultant or coach in museums, local library children’s programs, home visitation programs, and state early childhood agencies

Evaluate and help improve childcare program quality as state quality coach or technical assistance coach.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

You will have opportunities to spend time in a variety of early childhood settings as you complete your course work.

You will be talking with and observing different professionals (e.g., classroom teacher, childcare center administrator, home visitor, library story time child literacy specialist) as you learn to develop interactive, hands-on activities appropriate for children and adults.
