Explore French language and culture and develop crucial language and thinking skills for an internationally-focused career. If you want to enhance your career opportunities in the United States and abroad, expand your personal horizons, and better position yourself for success, pursuing a bachelor's in French might be for you. Earning your bachelor's degree involves more than just learning to understand, speak, read and write in another language. You will gain insights into other cultures and explore literature and linguistics through required coursework and electives.Studying a world language allows you to acquaint yourself with another culture and develop a global perspective. It also can strengthen your analytic and interpretive skills, leading to high scores in math and English courses and on entrance exams.The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures offers a degree in French, as well as a professional certification. The professional certification is useful for careers in travel and tourism, and business.You will become proficient in speaking, reading and writing the language you choose. You may spread your beginning and intermediate requirements over four semesters or accelerate your schedule.Our faculty members include native speakers, leaders in national and international organizations and award-winning professors. We work closely with the Study Abroad office to provide multiple opportunities for international work and study. These opportunities allow you to immerse yourself in the language and experience the culture first hand. The Career Center, Learning Center and professional academic advisors are among the many valuable resources that are available to you at UNT. The Career Center can provide advice about internships, future employment opportunities and getting hands-on experience in your major.

Entry requirements

For international students

Beginning freshman from international high school:- Graduation from a high school recognized by the home country ministry of education, Official transcripts/diplomas (in native language and English) showing all courses and marks of final three years of secondary school Students with a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher are guaranteed admission to UNT. Students' GPAs will be standardized on a 4.0 GPA scale once transcripts are submitted. Beginning freshman from U.S. high school:- Minimum of three years and graduation from an accredited high school in the U.S., Official transcripts, showing rank in class through at least junior year, plus graduation date, U.S. graduates only. Send SAT or ACT scores
