The Latina/o Studies program at Pace University enables you to explore the rich histories and contemporary lives of Latino communities and how identity shapes the way we see, interpret, and engage with the world. Whether you’re delving into your own heritage or seeking to build bridges across cultures, a degree in Latina/o studies equips you with the skills to make a positive impact.At Dyson College of Arts and Sciences, you’ll benefit from small class sizes, personalized instruction, and a supportive environment led by world-class scholars, writers, and researchers whose work in sociology, anthropology, political science, and the arts explores the Latina/o/x experience. Study everything from pre-colonial history to modern developments surrounding immigration and identity.Housed in the political science department, the Latina/o Studies program is dedicated to the study of Latina/o/x communities, with a strong interest in the socio-political dimensions of US Latina/o/x life, from early colonialism and pre-colonial times, to contemporary developments such as recent Mexican and Southern American immigration to New York City. It builds upon the interdisciplinary nature that is a hallmark of a Pace education, and the applied and real-world application of classroom learning that Dyson College is known for.

Entry requirements

For international students

Official transcripts, diplomas, and leaving examination scores from secondary and post-secondary schools (in English). Send a photocopy or fax of your valid passport/national identity card displaying your photo and name. Two letters of recommendation (PDF) from a teacher or counselor who knows you well and can attest to your academic potential and personal characteristics. Letters of recommendation are not required for international transfer students.One essay/personal statement, approximately 250-650 words in length, which will assist the Admission Committee in reviewing your application. The essay/personal statement you submit must consist solely of your own original work.We also consider the GPA (Grade Point Average) that is indicated on your high school transcript. We generally look for students in the top 50% of their class. For schools that don't use a ranking system, we consider a 2.5 GPA or higher to be the equivalent. Finally, the Office of International Admissions conducts a holistic review of each application that includes a careful review of the following documents; letters of recommendation, personal statement / essay, and extracurricular activities.
