What will I learn?

CBU Spanish majors gain fluency in the language by the time of graduation, becoming able to speak, listen, read and write in Spanish.Fluency in Spanish opens job opportunities in teaching, translation and interpretation, while also being useful for many other professional positions. Since bilingual proficiency and multicultural adaptability are an integral part of CBU's Spanish bachelor's program, students are encouraged to participate in study-abroad opportunities in Spanish-speaking countries.What You'll Learn Listening and reading: Graduates of the Spanish program will demonstrate listening and reading comprehension skills sufficient to understand any genre of literature or speech in the target language at a level equivalent to the advanced level according to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Proficiency in speaking and writing the Spanish language: Graduates will conduct oral demonstrations and prepare academic papers in the Spanish language at a level equivalent to the advanced level according to the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines. Analysis of the Spanish language: Graduates will understand and analyze various components of Spanish linguistics including the grammatical, lexical and orthographic features needed to communicate effectively.

Entry requirements

For international students

Official Transcripts: Send us the official sealed copies of all academic records (including transcripts, mark sheets and grade reports, as well as graduation certificates, diplomas and/or completion certificates) from secondary schools, showing dates of attendance, courses taken and grades received. Transfer applicants are required to submit all official college transcripts from all colleges or universities attended and accompanying documentation as well. Electronic official transcripts and digital official transcripts sent from a school administrator may be accepted. Transcripts must be sent directly from the educational institution to CBU. Transcripts received by CBU from a third party (including the applicant) are unofficial and cannot be used for an application file. Essay: Submit a personal statement (minimum 3-5 paragraphs) responding to the following question: "What interests you the most about CBU and how can our programs, faculty, and location help you achieve your future goal.
