What will I learn?

Through the performance specialization, a diverse ensemble of faculty and students are dedicated to building a dynamic learning environment and creating exciting and evocative works of theater. Our program includes foundation classes in basic acting, character building and voice/movement techniques, as well as upper-level courses in multicultural and experimental performance, Suzuki and Viewpoints Technique, period styles and careers in acting. Core classes are supplemented by electives in dialects, comedy, combat and the Meisner technique. Annual performance opportunities include four faculty-directed productions, two student-directed productions and the Black Theater Workshop. Performance faculty maintain active professional profiles, including work in New York, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Chicago, Berlin and Prague. Our faculty bring professional and worldly experience, as well as passion to the classroom every day.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students seeking a bachelors degree from SIUE who have never attended a college or university, and those who may have taken some coursework at a college or university outside the U.S. but do not currently hold a bachelors degree.Submit official records showing grades for all years of secondary/high school AND official exam results or certificate/diploma. Applicants who have attempted at least 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) of college-level transfer credit (either from the U.S. or abroad) are not required to provide secondary school records.Meet English proficiency requirementTOEFL: 72IELTS: 6.0 (no component score under 5.5)
