What will I learn?

NEC’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fine Arts curriculum strikes a balance among technique, concepts, and personal expression. You will begin by acquiring a foundation in skills within a broad range of artistic styles and mediums. The department boasts state-of-the-art facilities and resources the setting is intimate and places you on personal terms with a faculty of practicing professionals. Our proximity to Boston, New York, and Montreal facilitates an exploration and engagement of broader artistic trends. We are passionate about seeing you leave with fluent and creative flexibility, prepared to engage your future as both an artist and a citizen. In this BFA Fine Arts degree, you will learn formal and innovative approaches to drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, and sculpture as you gain confidence in your creative voice. An appreciation of historical and contemporary concepts is threaded through sequentially developed curricula. Through personal and group critiques, you will know what it is and what it takes to be an artist. This will form the foundation of your creative thinking for the rest of your life.

Entry requirements

For international students

Official secondary school transcript or records (with English translation if necessary). Copy of a valid passport. New England College recognizes the IB curriculum as a challenging academic program that provides excellent preparation for university study. In most cases, credits are awarded for a minimum score of 5 on Standard Level (SL) exams and minimum score of 4 on Higher Level (HL). Additionally, students who earn an IB diploma in English can have their English Proficiency Score waived.A maximum of 30 credits may be awarded for IB. Applicants to New England Colleges Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) programs are required to submit a portfolio of 5–15 images of art and design work via SlideRoom. While you are welcome to submit your application without this initially, please note that a portfolio must be submitted before enrollment.
