What will I learn?

With nearly 400 majors, we are one of the 50 largest public university schools of music in the United States. Our 30 full-time and 33 part-time faculty are dedicated to helping you discover your future in the many diverse fields of music. Our programs include bachelor degrees in music composition, education, performance, jazz studies, and history/literature. We also offer the Master of Music degree in composition, accompanying, history/literature, performance, music education, conducting, jazz, technology and theory. The School of Music is now part of the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college on the UA campus. Entry requirements

For international students

Official documents (including transcripts, test results, and diplomas/certificates) MUST be submitted for full admission, award of scholarships and the issuance of an I-20. An official final transcript must be submitted before you can register for your second semester coursework. SAT or ACT – The University of Akron is test-optional. The SAT or ACT is not required for admission or scholarship consideration for applicants. To be accepted as a music major, both freshmen and transfer students must successfully complete an audition on their major applied instrument, complete the Undergraduate Placement Examination in Music Theory, and be evaluated in keyboard skills.
