What will I learn?

Animal science is the study of domestic animals including livestock species (beef, dairy cattle, goats, horses, poultry, sheep and swine) and companion animals. You will learn about their nutrition, genetics, reproduction, behavior and health. Animal science is a versatile major. You will study concepts from production to processing, and learn about the value associated with livestock and domestic animals. Whether you plan to attend veterinary school, run a ranch, work for an animal health company, work in communications or anything in between, there is an option that will fit your interests.

Entry requirements

For international students

High School GPA 3.0+ (based on a 4.0 scale) and English-language proficiency exam scores (one of the following): iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 61+; IELTS Academic Score 5.5+; PTE Academic Score 46+; iTEP Academic Score 3.5+, Duolingo English Test Score 95+.

Note: OSU will only accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) results from students beginning Fall 2024.

Application deadline: For applicants currently living in the U.S. - Fall: July 1, Spring: December 1 and Summer: May 1; For applicants not living in the U.S. - Fall: June 1, Spring: November 1 and Summer: March 1.
