What will I learn?

Livestock management is high-tech and high-stakes. It’s also traditional, hands-on and barn-based. We’ll invite you into the barns where you can get college credit for the routine care of cattle, hogs and horses. You’ll have the chance to join ongoing research into nutrition and feed efficiency, reproduction, probiotics, and genetic health. Get in on baby animal care (Pig Watch and Foal Watch), or learn to handle 1,000 pounds of bull at the Bull Test Center. It’s a ''learn-by-doing'' field and you’ll have lots of learning opportunities.Animal Science is one of the most common majors for Pre-Veterinary medicine. Entry requirements

For international students

Students need to have Transcripts from high school and/or college. At SIU Carbondale, applicants for admission will be eligible for automatic admission if they are on track to complete our course pattern requirements and who meet one of the following criteria: A cumulative high school GPA of 2.75; A ranking in the top 10% of their graduating class.

English Language Requirement: Any one of the following methods will automatically meet the minimum English requirement. Applicants who do not meet the automatic English language admission requirement will undergo a holistic review to determine potential admissibility.
