What will I learn?

The Biomedical Engineering Technology (BMET) Program at The University of Akron prepares students to apply engineering and technology principles to healthcare. Biomedical engineering technologists and technicians play a vital role in the daily operation of hospitals, clinics, and medical equipment companies by installing, calibrating, maintaining, and repairing essential medical devices, as well as performing routine safety checks to ensure reliable patient care. Our modern, two-year associate degree program provides a strong foundation in medical instrumentation, bioelectronics, programming and software, equipment diagnosis and repair, report writing, and public safety. Students gain extensive hands-on experience using industry-standard tools and technologies that reinforce classroom learning. The program is designed to prepare graduates to enter the healthcare industry with the interdisciplinary knowledge and technical skills needed for success and to pursue certification as a Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET).
