What will I learn?

The biomedical sciences submajor is an academic, non-clinical submajor that provides you with excellent preparation pursue careers in medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, optometry, pharmacy, chiropractic, research and other related fields requiring an advanced degree. As a biomedical scientist, you will utilize several different laboratory techniques to study clinical disease and treatment. Biomedical scientists can work in a variety of settings such as clinical, research and biotechnology laboratories. Depending on the work environment, testing performed by biomedical scientists can aid in clinical diagnosis, provide a better understanding of human biology, provide better therapeutic strategies and much more.

Entry requirements

For international students

All applicants whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency in one of the following ways: An approved test score that meets the requirement for regular or conditional admission. University study: Completion of at least 18 months of full-time, for-credit academic study (approximately three semesters) at a recognized or accredited institution of higher education whose language of instruction is English immediately prior to enrollment at UWM. Secondary/high school study: Proof of completion of the last two years of secondary/high school at an institution whose language of instruction is English immediately prior to enrollment at UWM. TOEFL IBT - 79 or higher, TOEFL PBT - 548 or higher, IELTS - 6.5
