What will I learn?

The Mission of the Department of Biology and Health Sciences at Texas A&M University Kingsville is to provide excellence in teaching, research, and service. We are dedicated to the success of our students and the strong research base of our faculty allows us to provide strong academic and research experiences for undergraduates in cellular, molecular, and animal biology, biomedical science and human nutrition. Qualified undergraduates frequently help with our lab courses as Lab Assistants, thus gaining valuable learning and teaching experience. Program StrengthsA dozen active faculty research laboratories, the majority are focused on biomedical research.''Teaching through research'' philosophy. Aside from graduate students, nearly every faculty lab supports undergraduate research students.Growth rate of over 5% per year over the last four years.Strong and highly successful pre-health advising program. Of 475 undergraduate majors, 65% are in pre-health professions preparing for careers in Pharmacy, Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Optometry, or Physical Therapy.Biology is a South Texas pipeline for students transitioning to Ph.D. or professional programs.

For international students

Official secondary school transcripts showing subjects marks received and graduation date If you have not yet graduated from secondary school a transcript showing all completed work may be accepted for early admission External examination reports should be provided when applicable.Official transcripts with subjects and marks received from any colleges or universities attended.Certified literal translations of all credentials officially issued in any language other than English.A higher score of 79, 550 is required for all applicants to programs in the College of Arts and Sciences and the Frank H Dotterweich College of Engineering This score must be sent directly from the Educational Testing Services ETS and dated within two 2 years of enrolment.TAMUK ELTC completion of program letter with a minimum average of 90 percent and levels from Low Advanced, Advanced Plus or High Advanced.IELTS 6.5 or above overall band score
