With an ever-changing and evolving marketplace, adaptability and flexibility are paramount to success. The Jefferson Biotechnology program is designed to provide graduates with the unique ability to adapt and innovate in any research environment and product-driven industry.
Biotechnology is where life sciences and technology converge. A degree in biotechnology opens up numerous employment possibilities since practically every industry utilizes biotechnology. A biotechnology degree fosters creativity, innovation, and adaptability that is applicable to most career choices.
The Biotechnology program is STEM designated. STEM eligibility allows international students on an F-1 student status to apply for an additional 24 months of work authorization after an initial 12-month period of post-completion Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the United States, if they meet the required criteria.
The Jefferson Biotechnology program offers an educational experience taught by faculty from the Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, and Medical Diagnostic industries, who closely work with students to master essential career knowledge and skills that make graduates very successful. Moreover, the Jefferson Biotechnology program faculty arranges four months of built-in internships in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and academic research laboratories for each student based on their interests, which affords them important workplace experience providing a competitive edge for future employment.

Entry requirements

For international students

Transcripts: Submit official transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Personal Statement: Submit a statement of purpose outlining your interest in the program, how the course of study relates to your desired career path, and your academic and job-related experiences that are relevant to the program. A minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is recommended. All prerequisite courses must be completed at a regionally accredited institution or at Thomas Jefferson University. Prerequisite courses are required to be completed with a grade of “C” or above. Non-science prerequisite credit can be earned through standardized tests such as AP, IB, and CLEP. GPA: minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA
