What will I learn?

The statistics degree allows you to gain experience in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data, and work collaboratively in a broad range of disciplines. A degree in statistics will propel you into a segment of specialists in high demand in today's workforce. We emphasize the implementation of statistical methodology and technology, as well as the application of statistics to other disciplines.

Highlights
Students can join the Statistics Club and Statistics Honor Society, Mu Sigma Rho
Because of the applied nature of the statistics discipline, you may be able to pursue a second major in another discipline that utilizes statistical applications and concepts.
The majority of courses within statistics include math, computer science, statistics and applied statistics. Courses to expect for this major include Statistical Methods, Calculus and Computer Science.
Students can work in the Statistical Learning and Instructional Laboratory (SLIC)

Entry requirements

For international students

High School GPA 3.0+ (based on a 4.0 scale) and English-language proficiency exam scores (one of the following): iBT TOEFL Internet-Based Score 61+; IELTS Academic Score 5.5+; PTE Academic Score 46+; iTEP Academic Score 3.5+, Duolingo English Test Score 95+.

Note: OSU will only accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) results from students beginning Fall 2024.

Application deadline: For applicants currently living in the U.S. - Fall: July 1, Spring: December 1 and Summer: May 1; For applicants not living in the U.S. - Fall: June 1, Spring: November 1 and Summer: March 1.
