Marketing is an exciting career. As a marketing student, you will join one of the most popular majors at OSU and at most universities. With an option to focus on the communication side of marketing you will learn to create messaging for advertising, promotions, sales, branding and online promotion. The marketing communications option at OSU provides students with a set of communication tools that are used to deliver a clear and consistent message to target audiences. Marketing provides a wide variety of activities, significant responsibility and tremendous opportunities to interact professionally with other people. A marketing career is often considered one of the best training grounds for the top level of corporations.Marketing is fundamentally about building relationships and trust to help customers solve their problems in ways that benefit everyone. In the course of doing this, marketers do research, use analytics, create and manage many types of communication, engage in and manage professional selling, determine pricing strategies and develop distribution channels.From startups to large corporations, firms need marketers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor predicts faster than average growth for marketing manager jobs through 2029. Marketers play an important and strategic role in the organizations they serve, from helping determine strategic direction, providing key leadership, engaging customers, driving revenue to launching innovative new products and services. Our faculty members bring their knowledge and experience into the classroom, equipping students to think critically about all aspects of marketing.
