The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers a grad track option for currently enrolled UNT undergraduate students majoring in mechanical engineering technology (MEET).In this grad track option, the student can take a maximum of nine (9) credit hours of graduate courses while completing the BS degree. After earning the BS degree, these credit hours can be counted toward the MS in Engineering Technology.The ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering Technology program in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas focuses on the applications of science and engineering to analyze, design, develop, implement and oversee advanced mechanical systems and processes. The program is built upon a strong foundation of science, mathematics and technical coursework designed to meet the diverse needs of a mechanical engineering technologist. Students in the program are being trained to work in a team-oriented, concurrent engineering environment.Engineering technologists must be capable in both design and manufacturing in order to position themselves as economic and industry front-runners and to take advantage of global growth. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is preparing students to do just that, as our Mechanical Engineering Technology emphasis places primary focus on the design and analysis of products, tools, machines and components needed in the world today.The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas is one of about 25 departments in the U.S. that offers a Master of Science in Engineering Technology. Naturally engaging, translational and applied, our STEM-designated program is strongly based on using advanced applications of technology to solve practical engineering problems.

Entry requirements

For international students

Beginning freshman from international high school:- Graduation from a high school recognized by the home country ministry of education, Official transcripts/diplomas (in native language and English) showing all courses and marks of final three years of secondary school Students with a cumulative unweighted high school GPA of 3.25 or higher are guaranteed admission to UNT. Students' GPAs will be standardized on a 4.0 GPA scale once transcripts are submitted. Beginning freshman from U.S. high school:- Minimum of three years and graduation from an accredited high school in the U.S., Official transcripts, showing rank in class through at least junior year, plus graduation date, U.S. graduates only. Send SAT or ACT scores
