For U of I film and television majors, stories and advocacy come to life through the camera - like the student who used her capstone film to bring attention to mental health struggles in young adults. In this hands-on program, you’ll build a strong foundation in videography and storytelling as you practice shooting, editing, writing, directing and producing. Dive deeper with specialized skills in cinematography, sound and documentary production. Your capstone film or multimedia project is an opportunity to work with a large cast and crew and could earn you a place at the university’s annual Kino Short Film Festival - for starters. Alumni have gone on to direct and produce award-winning television and films for networks like HBO, Hulu and Netflix, and have collaborated with acclaimed filmmakers like Lynn Shelton and the Duplass brothers, as well as actors like Toni Collette and Melanie Lynskey.
