The Lamar University Bachelor of Science in Geology will teach you about the solid Earth, in particular the rocks and their minerals and fossils. You'll study and interpret the geological record to search for natural resources like gold, coal, oil, groundwater and rock material used for construction work. This major integrates a range of disciplines from field-based studies to more theoretical aspects of rocks, minerals and their behavior during Earth processes. Geologists are scientific detectives who try to reveal the past and the future of the Earth. Our program facilities include the Lamar Geospatial Center, a lab complete with 21 work stations and an extensive collection research software.
