What will I learn?

This degree program prepares students for professional practice in Industrial Design where innovation, entrepreneurship, and human-centered and collaborative solutions are applied to the creation of products and experiences at the intersection of art, commerce, and technology. Portfolio review is required for admission to the professional BS program. Portfolios are reviewed in the spring semester for fall admission to Junior standing in this degree program. Applicants to the BS program must receive a positive recommendation following review of a portfolio submitted by the applicant. For BS portfolio review consideration, students must have completed the following courses: DESN 110, DESN 120A, DESN 120B, DESN 132A, DESN 132B, DESN 150, DESN 151, DESN 154, DESN 156 with a ''C'' or better. For BS portfolio review consideration, students must also be enrolled in or have successfully completed DESN 232, DESN 254, and DESN 280 with a ''C'' or better. Students may apply twice to the BS Program, but may not apply after they have completed 89 timely graduation units. Contact department for details of portfolio submission and review process.

Entry requirements

For international students

Have earned a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA or "B'" grade according to the CSULB GPA scale. Have completed at least 1 year of high school mathematics. Applicants to STEM majors must have at least 3 years of high school mathematics. High School Transcripts.
