What will I learn?

Scientific breakthroughs and technological development often demand an interdisciplinary understanding of relationships between materials, properties and fabrication processes.

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Materials Science provides this by building a foundation of fundamental physics, chemistry and mathematics courses, then focusing on key aspects of materials including structure, defects, diffusion, equilibria, phase transformations and growth including behavior at the nanoscale. Courses in material kinetics and quantum phenomena condensed matter and soft matter and materials properties, characterization and applications broaden knowledge and reinforce key materials science concepts.

The choice of different courses to satisfy these requirements enables exploration of individual interests as students prepare to begin jobs in the industry or to pursue graduate programs.
