With a physics major, it is possible to attain either a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or a Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.E), depending on your choice of emphases. Select one of the following emphasis below. The Department also offers three minors: Liberal Arts minor in Physics, Secondary Education minor, and the Astronomy minor.Professional EmphasisThis emphasis is recommended for students who seek employment in the field of physics or who are preparing for graduate studies in physics, astronomy, or related fields. Professional Emphasis majors will be able to use integrated principles of physics and advanced analytic and computational methods.Students preparing for a professional career in physics or astronomy normally take this emphasis. The course preparation in this emphasis is necessary for graduate work in physics and many related fields such as astrophysics, nuclear physics, particle physics, solid state physics, biophysics, medical physics, atomic or molecular physics or plasma physics, etc.
