The Radiologic Sciences Program at Southern Illinois University prepares students to be the qualified health care professionals who can act as first assistants to physicians in medical practice. As a radiologic sciences professional you could utilize radiant energy, ionizing radiation (X-rays), other forms of electromagnetic energy, and sound waves for the imaging, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Each distinct specialization has its own accreditation, educational and clinical training requirements. We offer medical specialties of radiography (radiologic technology), radiation therapy, medical sonography (ultrasound), magnetic resonance and computed tomography imaging, radiology management/education and cardiac-interventional radiography at SIU.
