Bachelor of Science in Sport and Wellness - Sport Management

USA

What will I learn?

As a UD Health & Wellness major, you'll learn the knowledge and skills needed for an entry-level career related to health promotion and health education. Courses also provide relevant prerequisites for students interested in pursuing graduate degrees.

You'll pursue an in-depth study in your area of concentration, choosing from one of two options:

Community Health: For those who want to work to improve health at a population level. Career options include working with public health agencies, non-profit organizations, and schools.
Health & Fitness: The intersection of understanding the business of taking care of our bodies. Students are prepared to be leaders in the booming wellness industry. Career options include working with fitness facilities (personal trainers & managers), corporate wellness programs, coaching, sales & marketing.
No matter which concentration you choose, you'll engage in a variety of activities to encourage both professional and personal growth. You'll complete practicums and internships connecting you to your future career. Hands-on learning varies by concentration and can include partnerships with local elementary schools, UD Campus Recreation, Dayton Athletics, and needs assessments with community partners.

Sport Management: Applied understanding of facilities, finance, human resource management, law, marketing, media and sales - and how they relate to sports. Includes a minor in Business Administration. Career options include working with collegiate & pro sports, public & private recreation, event management, media organizations, higher education, sales & marketing.
