What will I learn?

Study the molecular basis of life through the lenses of chemistry and biology. Consider the structure, function and interaction of proteins, nucleic acids and other biomolecules in biological systems. Learn by doing as you complete independent research and/or pursue internships. Be part of the more than 60% of undergraduate students in the Department of Biology who engage in research or internships, as all students are encouraged to participate, whether or not they have prior experience. Pursue a distinction in biochemistry-challenge yourself to excel academically in your science and mathematics coursework and complete a research project and written thesis before graduation. Showcase your work by presenting at the Department of Biology’s annual Undergraduate Research Conference. Work collaboratively with talented peers in small lab classes and seminars.

Entry requirements

For international students

You must be enrolled in or have graduated from an accredited secondary school. SAT/ACT scores will not be required for students applying for Spring 2026, Fall 2026, or Spring 2027 admission. Students who choose not to submit test scores will not be disadvantaged and will remain eligible for merit scholarships.
