What will I learn?

Planning is a systematic, creative way to influence the future of neighborhoods, cities, rural and metropolitan areas, even the country and the world. Urban planning is a profession with the primary purpose of creating great places. Planners value, preserve and create spaces that are important to who we are as individuals and as a community. This professional and practical program provides students with the knowledge and skills to thrive as planning professionals. Students typically take a required core of 10 courses supplemented by electives selected in consultation with a program adviser for a total of 36 credits. EMU admits students on a sliding scale based primarily on a combination of high school grade point average. If you have a high GPA, you may be admitted even if your test score is below our average. If you have a high test score, you may be admitted with a lower-than-average GPA.

The average student coming to EMU directly from high school has a GPA of 3.28
