Certificate in Court Reporting - Computer Aided Transcription Technology, Level II

USA

What will I learn?

The Court Reporting Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) Level 2 Certificate is a continuation of the Court Reporting: Transcriptionist/Scopist Level 1 Certificate. The Court Reporting Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) Level 2 Certificate prepares a Court Reporting Program student to use machine shorthand to capture speech at a speed of 225 words per minute and transcribe notes with 97% accuracy. The student is prepared to take the state-level CSR (Certified Shorthand Reporter) and the national-level RPR (Registered Professional Reporter) certification exams at the completion of the competencies. Upon passing the CSR, the student can: 1) work as an official Court Reporter in court or 2) can work as a freelance reporter (taking depositions) for a court reporting firm.

Entry requirements

For international students

All foreign credentials must be evaluated. Admission requires a general evaluation stating credential is equivalent to that of a U.S. high school or U.S. college or university. All evaluations must be completed by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO). Please note: Some evaluation services require translation from a translation service. In order to have foreign college credit count towards the completion of a program at a college of the Alamo Colleges District, students must submit a course by course evaluation.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
