You will study the forms, consequences, and impact of diversity in modern society while pursuing Wright State's undergraduate certificate in diversity and social inequality. Gain an appreciation of the benefits of embracing diversity in all its forms as well as the ability to identify and evaluate individual, interactional, and structural factors that link many categories of difference to enduring forms of social inequality. Learn how to: Utilize social science data to document patterns of social inequality across a wide variety of social identity categories, Demonstrate cross-cultural understanding and intercultural awareness, Recognize patterns of prejudice and discrimination and features of social environments that can exacerbate or improve social inequality, Appreciate the impact of diverse social identities on individual well-being and life chances and Apply the sociological imagination to the study of diversity and social inequality.
