Students may earn a certificate in French & Francophone Studies by completing 12 units, of which 9 must be at the upper-division units with a C or better. FREN 312 (6 units) and FREN 314 required. If you enter the certificate directly at the upper-division, you must take 3 units of electives to reach the 12 unit threshold. Students must pass a commercial, externally administered oral proficiency test.The Certificate in French Language consists of 12-25 units, of which 9 units must be at the upper-division level. The number of lower-division units will depend upon the amount of French studied previously in high school or college, since students with prior study of French may enter with advanced standing. In addition to 9 upper-division units, students must pass an externally administered oral proficiency test.
