What will I learn?

Civil engineers play a critical role in solving the infrastructure challenges that impact communities every day. Our Civil Engineering, B.S., program will prepare you to plan, design, construct, and operate the systems that support modern life-from bridges and highways to airports, water treatment systems, and energy facilities. Through a curriculum grounded in applied engineering, science, and mathematics, you’ll develop the practical knowledge needed to transform research and theory into real-world engineering solutions. The program provides a strong professional foundation across key areas, including structural design, transportation systems, water resources, and geotechnical engineering. Guided by an industry-informed curriculum, you’ll learn how to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems while applying design principles that prioritize public health, safety, and sustainability. Your work will also consider global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors that influence infrastructure projects.Through coursework and hands-on learning, you’ll apply principles of engineering, science, and mathematics to analyze structures, transportation networks, water resources, and geotechnical systems. You’ll also learn to develop engineering designs that meet real-world needs while considering safety, sustainability, and the broader social and environmental impacts of infrastructure development.
