In a rapidly changing media landscape, it is important to understand the causes and consequences of human behavior and to be able to collect, analyze, and interpret large sets of data that predict that behavior. The dual B.S./M.A. program in Communication Arts and Sociology will allow you to develop expertise in these areas and complete both degrees in just five years of full-time study.
While still working toward your undergraduate Communication Arts degree, you’ll enroll in four approved graduate courses in Sociology. These courses will still apply to your bachelor’s degree if for any reason you do not wish to continue at the master’s level after four years.
Career Outcomes
In the dual B.S./M.A. program in Communication Arts and Sociology, you’ll learn both the management, marketing, and business administration aspects of media-related fields, as well as develop the research skills and sociological framework to understand cultural forces at play in these fields.
Your dual studies will allow you to analyze and predict how humans interact with various media interfaces, and how to employ media to motivate collective action. The knowledge and skills you’ll gain through the program will allow you to advance in careers related to social and mobile media, media graphics, advertising, radio and television broadcasting, the music industry, public relations, and film.
