The School of Music, Dance and Theatre provides a dynamic and culturally diverse learning environment. Creativity and research, the core program values, help to bridge knowledge and community and are embedded in a broad range of academic experiences emphasizing movement and creative practices, artistic process, leadership and pedagogy. The Master of Fine Arts program in dance with a concentration in interdisciplinary digital media and performance is typically accomplished during three years of residency. The program provides a select group of graduate students with a rigorous, in-depth opportunity to specialize in dance and transdisciplinary digital arts. Interdisciplinary classes and research activities offered by the School of Arts, Media and Engineering the Herberger Institute experience and the School of Music, Dance and Theatre provide the springboard for students to advance their practice and research. Individuals whose approaches are transdisciplinary and cross-cultural in nature and who are self-motivated, have clear and demonstrated objectives, and are willing to explore new possibilities in the field of dance and beyond are ideal for this program. Each graduate student develops creative work, scholarship and research that represent their unique perspective as a creative, thinker, teacher and arts advocate. Frequent showings are required for degree completion.
