UMass Lowell's Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering program is designed to prepare engineers for industry, academia and government leadership positions. The program includes advanced graduate coursework in engineering and allied subjects and research culminating in a doctoral dissertation. The Department offers a Ph.D. Degree in Chemical Engineering with the following options:Chemical Engineering OptionEnergy Engineering Option (Nuclear Engineering Concentration)Our faculty is involved with applied research projects sponsored by industry and government agencies, and some of the current active research areas are in biotechnology and bioprocessing, advanced engineering materials and nuclear engineering. UMass Lowell strives to provide financial support for all admitted Ph.D. students. This includes funding through Teaching Assistantships (TA), Research Assistantships (RA) and summer research support. Assistantships are contingent upon availability and may be subject to change. The Doctor of Philosophy degree is designed to prepare engineers for leadership positions in industry, academia and government.
