What will I learn?

At the graduate level, UCF offers a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering through the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The program offers the opportunity, through both coursework and research, to meet the highest standards of academic achievement in the core areas of mechanical systems or thermofluids. You can also conduct research under our highly cited and industry-recognized faculty in the areas of energy and power systems, nanotechnology, and heat transfer. The doctoral degree is intended for students who have earned a master’s or bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a closely related field. Graduates of UCF’s mechanical engineering programs work at the world’s leading aerospace and defense organizations, including NASA and Lockheed Martin. They are also employed by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Universal Creative, Pratt & Whitney, Northrop Grumman, and Siemens.

Entry requirements

For international students

Bachelors or Masters degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline. The GRE is not required for admission to this program. Résumé. Statement about educational, research, and professional career objectives. Three letters of recommendation. Applicants applying to this program who have attended a college/university outside the United States must provide one official transcript and official certification of degree, with date awarded. See the Sample Country Requirements page for country specific requirements. If you will be requesting transfer credit, a course-by-course evaluation from World Education Services (WES) or Josef Silny and Associates, Inc. must be submitted. Prospective applicants with an earned masters degree in a closely related field should apply to the post-masters track.
