What will I learn?

Pharmacology is the study of the mechanisms of action of drugs and their effects on normal and disease states. It is a science based upon integrating chemistry, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology and physiology. Students in the Ph.D. program's Pharmacology Concentration may develop research projects in the areas of renal physiology, autonomic and central nervous systems, cardiovascular pharmacology, signal transduction, cellular physiology of exercise and aging, protein biochemistry, and cancer biology.

Entry requirements

For international students

Applicants to the Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy PhD program must have either completed or expect to complete a BS degree in a similar area with an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4-point scale. Applicants with a pharmacy background and/or advanced training will be given preference, and prospective students with health care-related backgrounds and/or experience are encouraged to apply. A GRE score is required to apply for the PhD program, and will be considered holistically with the students other credentials.
