What will I learn?

Graduate training in Cell and Cancer Biology has a long history at UC. For many years, the Program was run by the Department of Cancer and Cell Biology. In 1994, the Program was expanded and is now truly interdisciplinary and interdepartmental, with participation from over 50 faculty members from multiple departments and divisions of UC as well as Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). Faculty selected to join the program are recognized leaders in their fields and provide excellence and dedication in graduate training. As a consequence, our graduate students excel in research, are highly successful in their scientific careers, and experience a richer environment for learning Cancer and Cell Biology. All PhD students accepted to the program receive a full-tuition scholarship, a nationally competitive stipend, and a health insurance plan. Successful completion of the program typically involves four to six years beyond the Bachelor’s degree, varying according to background and special interests. It is our philosophy that the PhD training must be intellectually stimulating, congenial, and geared toward a successful career in modern research.
