What will I learn?

The Urban and Regional Planning PhD program, designed to nurture distinguished scholars and researchers, offers research and learning opportunities encompassing the field of urban and regional planning. Examples of some research areas where the program offers special capability, international distinction and emphasis, include: declining cities and distressed urban communities health, food systems, human abilities and environment built environments and environmental change disasters and extreme events and advanced technology, information systems and methods in planning.

Entry requirements

For international students

We invite applications from highly qualified and motivated candidates interested in pursuing a career in research and teaching. Candidates should ideally hold a masters degree in planning or a related field, and must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher in graduate coursework. International candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English as per standards set by the University at Buffalo.
