The University of Central Missouri’s Educational Studies bachelor’s degree program transforms your work experience and passion for teaching into new opportunities in the dynamic field of career and technical education. We are proud to be the longest continuously CAEP-accredited public institution in Missouri.Our Educational Studies major gives you the knowledge and skills needed to teach and train in a variety of educational and industrial settings. For example, you’ll learn how to:Develop instructional materials Use data to improve student learning and performanceBecome an effective CTE classroom and laboratory manager You can earn course credit for your work experience in the automotive industry, health sciences, Registered Apprenticeships, culinary schools, EMT training, the military, cosmetology and many more. This field is closely related to academic advisor degrees and career education degrees.Depending on your interests, you can choose from undergraduate courses in four core areas:Curriculum and Methods: Learn instructional methods and strategies, including reinforcing effort and providing recognition.Methods of Teaching Career and Technical Education: Explore the principles and techniques of presenting information, giving demonstrations and facilitating student learning.Curriculum Design and Assessment: Find out how to use formal and informal assessment strategies to evaluate student learning and tailor instruction to meet individual needs.Classroom Management and Interactions: Develop authentic and applicable classroom management knowledge and strategies that enhance and enrich teaching and learning.

Entry requirements

For international students

All undergraduate students are required to upload unofficial transcripts to their student portal (created upon application submission) and submit official transcripts to our office. These transcripts will be used for advisement purposes. Students must have a 2.0 high school GPA or above to be admissible. If the applicant has taken undergraduate coursework the cumulative GPA of the undergraduate coursework must be a 2.0 or higher to be admissible.
