What will I learn?

STEM-classified degree: graduates are eligible for 3 years of Optional Practical Training (OPT) in the USA. This program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Bachelor of Science in Engineering program in electrical engineering with a concentration in electric power and energy systems prepares students for positions in industries that deal with the generation, transmission and use of electric power. Generation includes conventional power generation (fossil fuel and nuclear) and alternative energy systems, such as solar, wind and fuel cells. Students in this program first complete the foundation courses in math, science and engineering. Next, they take the pathway course in energy systems and power electronics, and complete nine of the 15 technical elective credit hours with electrical power and energy systems courses. The senior design capstone project focuses on the area of electric power and energy systems.

Entry requirements

For international students

3.0 GPA or equivalent. Must have three years of high school coursework. (If you are currently in high school, ASU needs to see 9–11 grade coursework. If you have completed high school, ASU needs to see 10–12 grade coursework.) Must have and present a completed high school diploma or certificate.
