What will I learn?

The Bachelor of Arts in Geography enables students to understand the spatial processes and patterns of physical and human geography, and the complex interactions between humans and the natural environment. The program prepares students for a variety of career paths, including education, environmental analysis, resource management and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Students learn how to apply geospatial technologies to analyze geographic data and address geographic problems. Geography promotes applied and experiential learning, which helps students to understand and work on real-world challenges, such as global climate change and sustainable development The Department of Geography and the Environment provides students with a well-rounded education that bridges the social and natural sciences, and provides geotechnical training. Students take courses in human, environmental and physical geography. In addition, we offer applied courses in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing and urban planning. The Geography degree prepares students for different career paths, including education, environmental analysis, government, planning, and resource management and conservation. We prepare students for critical challenges of the 21st century by promoting global understanding and environmental stewardship.

Entry requirements

For international students

First-year students must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be a high school graduate or equivalent.

Complete the 15-unit comprehensive “A-G” pattern with a grade of C- or better by high school graduation.

"A-G" requirement may not be completed during the summer term prior to fall enrolment.

Earn a competitive Multi Factor Admission Score (MFAS)

You can demonstrate English Language Proficiency by meeting the following exam benchmarks.

TOEFL iBT (including paper, home): 61

IELTS Academic Test: 5.5

PTE Academic Test: 43
