What will I learn?

In this certificate program, offered by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, students gain the knowledge and skills required to address a community’s needs through the design of the physical environment. Courses examine the interactions among social, economic, political, and cultural factors, and the built environment.

University Advanced Certificate Requirements​

Advanced certificate programs offer post-baccalaureate students coursework leading to a specific, applied, focused goal. In order to be eligible for admission to an advanced certificate, students complete an intake form or apply through CalState Apply and submit an official transcript(s) (noting the completion of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accredited and/or recognized institution from a foreign country). Students must have a minimum of 2.5 undergraduate GPA.

Entry requirements

For international students

Students must have a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have a GPA of at least 2.5 (where A=4).

English Language Proficiency: IELTS: 6.5; TOEFL – 80 (IBT), paper based – 550, Computer based – 213; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 53. General test recommended for all applicants but required of those whose cumulative undergraduate GPA was below 3.0 (but above the university graduate-school minimum of 2.5).
