What will I learn?

The purpose of the Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing is to provide writers with increased access to the university and to the many components of its creative writing program which include graduate writing workshops in poetry, fiction, memoir and autobiography, playwriting, and nature writing as well as writers-in-residence and the regular reading series at UW-Oshkosh. Students will focus their certificate coursework by choosing courses from our creative writing curriculum that meets their needs.

Entry requirements

For international students

Minimum 2.75 overall undergraduate grade point average, or a 2.90 grade point average for the last half of the students baccalaureate program. An overall undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale), as evinced by an official transcript; if the overall undergraduate GPA is less than 3.0, the applicant must have earned a GPA of 3.25 or better during the last half of undergraduate work (approximately 60 credits). The GRE is not required.Three positive letters of recommendation detailing the applicants abilities in the sciences and potential to succeed in graduate school. At least two will be written by university professors in the sciences. For students who earned their B.S. degree 5 or more years ago, letters from supervisors, preferably in STEM fields, may be acceptable.1 letter of reference regarding your ability to succeed in a graduate programPersonal essay (1-2 pages) describing your goals and qualifications for the MSAT program
