What will I learn?

With the global threats of cyber-crime, our nation’s continued security and economic prosperity depend on the availability of increasing cybersecurity workforce. The Department of Computer Engineering offers a 12-unit Cyber Security Engineering (CSE) Certificate program to students who seek career opportunities in cybersecurity and information assurance. The courses in the certificate program cover mobile-based software system, advanced topics, and project experience in information security.

University Advanced Certificate Requirements

Advanced certificate programs offer post-baccalaureate students coursework leading to a specific, applied, focused goal. In order to be eligible for admission to an advanced certificate, students complete an intake form or apply through CalState Apply and submit an official transcript(s) (noting the completion of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree from an accredited and/or recognized institution from a foreign country). Students must have a minimum of 2.5 undergraduate GPA.

Entry requirements

For international students

U.S. bachelors degree from a regionally accredited institution, or the completion of a 4-year bachelors degree from a recognized, accredited, and approved institution from a country outside of the U.S. A 2.5 GPA (from the 0.0-4.0 U.S. grading scale) in the last degree completed or a 2.5 GPA in the last two years of full-time study.

English Language Proficiency: IELTS: 6.5; TOEFL – 80 (IBT), paper based – 550, Computer based – 213; Pearson Test of English (PTE) – 53. GRE scores are required of all international applicants and all domestic applicants with bachelors GPAs beneath 3.25. Those with five or more years of direct experience in hardware through employment may request a waiver of the GRE. The absolute cutoff for acceptance for the sum of the quantitative and verbal portions is 300, although higher scores may be required in some semesters depending on the strength of the applicant pool. The minimum GRE writing score is 3.0.
