UWM’s program uniquely explores diverse history, languages, cultures and current issues in Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean and the U.S. We are one of the only programs to study Latin American and U.S. Latinx communities together rather than as separate tracks. Alumni work domestically or internationally in health or social services, education, nonprofits, business and government. Many are bilingual – Spanish, Portuguese, French – and students who start with advanced proficiency can earn both the bachelor’s degree and a master’s in translation in five years. Related certificates (similar to a minor) are available in Latinx Studies and Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
