What will I learn?

Gain practical skills and grow your career with the LLM in Taxation program. Whether you’re an experienced attorney or a recent law school graduate, the LLM in Taxation degree will provide you with an in-depth understanding of tax law and help you advance professionally. With online courses and both full-time and part-time enrollment options, the LLM program can be customized to meet your needs. In addition, USF’s 7-week semesters provide you with the ultimate flexibility and ensure you never have to be in class during the tax busy season. Fall classes begin after the October 15th filing deadline, spring classes end the first week in March, and summer courses run in June and July. You create your own academic pathway, taking as many or as few courses as you choose each semester. Most students complete two courses per semester and graduate in two years.

Entry requirements

For international students

All LLM applicants are required to complete or have completed a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school by the time classes begin. International students are eligible to apply only if they have completed a law degree (equivalent to a U.S. baccalaureate degree) from their home country or will have completed the degree by the time classes begin. Original transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended are required. The transcripts must be sent directly to the USF School of Law Office of Graduate Tax Admissions in sealed envelopes by your university. The USF School of Law requires that foreign transcripts be submitted through a credential evaluation service such as LSAC, West, etc. If you completed any post-secondary college or university work outside the U.S. (including its territories) or Canada, you must use this service for the evaluation of your foreign transcripts. The one exception to this requirement is if you completed the foreign work through a study abroad, consortium, or exchange program sponsored by a U.S. or Canadian institution, and the work is clearly indicated as such on the home campus transcript.

*There may be different IELTS requirements depending on your chosen course.
