What will I learn?

The Master of Arts in Spanish from California State University, Long Beach opens doors for teachers, journalists, translators, writers, and other professionals seeking to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Spanish and Spanish-speaking cultures. The program has approximately 45 active students at any given time, a number that allows for individualized mentoring, advising, and intellectual engagement.

Our graduates have become K-12 teachers, journalists, translators, interpreters, technical writers, community college instructors, lawyers, and PhD students. We offer an active program of intellectual and cultural events as well as opportunities for community and campus engagement. For students from United States

A Bachelor degree with minimum “B” (3.0) GPA overall

For international students

A Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish with minimum “B” (3.0) GPA overall; or

A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 18 upper division units in Spanish equivalent to the Basic Core of the B.A. in Spanish at this University. Minimum “B” (3.0) GPA overall.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): Paper-based 550; Internet-based (iBT) 80

IELTS 6.0 each sub-section

Pearson Test of English 58
