What will I learn?

Our MA degree supports a breadth of research interests, focusing on environmental and physical geography, geospatial science, human geography, housing and social justice, global and urban studies. We can offer competitive funding opportunities, including research and teaching assistantships as well as lab technician positions. The culminating activity for the MA program is a traditional research-based thesis. Geography at the Beach supports a breadth of research interests, focusing on environmental and physical geography, geospatial science, human geography, social justice and urban studies. Our students have been recognized by the College of Liberal Arts with award-winning research.

Entry requirements

For international students

A bachelors degree in geography; or A bachelors degree with 24 units of upper division courses substantially equivalent to those required for a geography major at this University; or A bachelors degree in a related discipline with 24 units of upper division courses in a combination of geography and approved courses in related disciplines,cAn undergraduate GPA of 3.0 (“B”) or better in upper division coursework, or alternative evidence of ability to do graduate work.
