What will I learn?

The Department of Political Science at Western Michigan University offers three graduate programs: Master of Arts, Master of International Development Administration (M.I.D.A.) and a Doctor of Philosophy. Master of Arts: The M.A. is a two-year degree program (30 credit hours) that can be completed with either a thesis or field exam option. Graduates pursue positions in state, local and federal government community college and business, or continue their education in a terminal degree program such as a Ph.D. or J.D.

Entry requirements

For international students

Student must have completed at least 24 hours of work in the social sciences or other relevant fields and have achieved a 3.0 grade point average.

Minimum English proficiency test scores:

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 80 iBT

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: 6.5

Pearson Test of English, Academic Module (PTE): 54

Michigan English Test (MET): 57

Application deadlines:

Fall: April 1; Spring: August 1
